LIVERPOOL DUO SAVE ENGLAND

Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard spared England's blushes with late goals against Trinidad & Tobago to book their place in the last 16 of the World Cup.











The Liverpool pair produced the goals, but it seemed like Lampard had been assigned shooting duty with the amount of shots he took, but then again maybe it was just his chelsea arrogance that made him position himself inside the six yard box in the hope of scoring from Gerrards crumbs.
But very happy to see Crouch score he deserves it ,he is such a good team player its nice he gets a bit recognition for his consistant selfless play for club and country.

GERMANS.........BORING?

For once our normally subdued and robotic germans gave real entertainment, and what a time and place to start, the opening game of the 2006 world cup. It is surly a sign of a very good world cup when even the Germans entertain in the opening game and some great goals by both sides.
I think one of the oldest and most famous sayings surronding world cups over the years has been watch out for the germans they always have a chance , i have heard this all my life and the germans have always proved it true, but this year i thought there managerial team and players are so weak that i wrote them off.
Todays game made me think twice, they are a much more attacking team nowadays and it looks effective, defence looks a bit dodgy and im not saying they will win the world cup but they are better than i thought and this is the world cup so who knows.
The team i really want to see playing is Argentina everyone says Brazil will win this cup but i think there southern neighbours could have a big say in the final outcome

CISSE...SHOCK AND AWE

Im shocked and im in awe that were stuck with this idiot for another year, now i feel sorry for any player that breaks his leg and especially if its a Liverpool player but this idiot thought he was escaping the evil cluthes of Rafa Benitez and going home to the green fields of france, and it was a great deal for all, He wanted to go and most Liverpool fans wanted him to go and idiot boy was so sure the deal was done one week ago he said this

Houllier signed me for Liverpool but I never had the chance to work with him.

"Now I have a coach who doesn't want me. Benitez doesn't use me, so I've taken a step back.

"I don't have the confidence of the coach; he doesn't like me."

So this has turned into a dream situation ...We dont want Cisse...He dose not want us..He is useless for another 6 months no one will buy him for at least a year to make sure he has recovered.

Maybe we will look back in 20 years and say, do u remember how close we came to selling one of Liverpools greatest strikers of all time before he had a chance to prove himself..........Dont hold your breath this guy is the last of houliers wasters ...............i hope

IF WE HAVE ANY CHANCE THEN GOTTA BUY

Liverpool have been alerted to the availability of Argentina forward Pablo Aimar, who may be allowed to leave Valencia for as little as £5m.

If we have even half a chance of really signing this player then Rafa will sign him. He has worked with him at Valencia so he knows how good he is, i dont think there is a player in the spanish league at the moment more suited to playing in the prem than Aimar , he not only has the skill but a bit of toughness too that is needed in the prem league, but would be very surprised if he is available if Real or Barca do not try to sign him.

LOOKING GOOD

Striker Djibril Cisse says he feels unwanted by Liverpool coach Rafa Benitez and wants to join former Anfield boss Gerard Houllier at Lyon.

Cisse, training with the France World Cup squad at Clairefontaine, said: "Mr. Houllier signed me for Liverpool but I never had the chance to work with him.

"Now I have a coach who doesn't want me. Benitez doesn't use me, so I've taken a step back.

Houllier helped bring Cisse to Liverpool from Auxerre but left the club shortly before the 24-year-old signed in July 2004.

This is just what was needed Cisse putting the final nail in his own coffin, i hope this makes it official that we are open to offers for the flop, and we get in a striker that can be a plus for the team

GONZALEZ AXED FROM CHILEAN SQUAD

Liverpool ace Mark Gonzalez has been thrown out of the Chile squad for a breach of discipline.

Gonzalez and Reinaldo Navia were axed from the squad by Chile coach Nelson Acosta after breaking rules during their European tour.

The pair were sent home from the trip after the coach caught three girls in their rooms 24 hours after their friendly win over Republic of Ireland.

Hope this is not going to be another spice boys thing maybe its better he makes mistakes now before we sign him and THE SUN gets hold of him.

But at least he gets full rest before season and if he had great world cup real madrid and barca would probably chase him so its not all bad

Argentina striker Lionel Messi says he is unlikely to figure in their World Cup opening match against Ivory Coast.

Messi, 18, is still recovering from a thigh injury suffered while playing for his club Barcelona against Chelsea in the Champions League back in March.

If only we had the money and barcelona would sell . This young guy is the next maradona he ripped chelsea apart before they done a two man mauling job of him, in fairness to chelsea it was probably there only chance to win if they had not butchered him it could have been an even more humiliating night

ROONEY YES OR NO

Well, he's not going to play any part in the group games and if all goes to plan he'll have 10 days training before a possible last 16 game. What a nonsense!

What is the point in taking him? Just say - and it's unlikely I know - that England do brilliantly in the group games, they get through comfortably and are playing well as a team - what purpose does it serve introducing a crock into the side?

I have to agree with Sir Alex Ferguson for once, it's not just Rooney's physical condition, it's how he's feeling mentally as well. To be honest he's better off watching it at home and we'd be better off trying to make the best of what we've got, which is still quite a lot.

This is a tough decision, i think its worth bringing him because there really is not any other strikers that can be brought into the squad that will have a chance of playing , but it is true if the team is playing well it would be madness to disrupt that by bringing in a half fit player. But if england are one nil down in semis with 15 minutes left, Rooney would be the man to bring on

MORIENTES SOLD TO VALENCIA

So nando is gone, it will always be a mystery why he never really played well at liverpool.
He came as one of europes top strikers and i think he will probably play good again with valencia, the saddest part about it was the money in wages and transfer fees we have spent on him.
I hope we can get decent money for Cisse next, then buy Kuyt and 1 more striker maybe even Owen

CROUCH IN THE WORLD CUP

With injuries to owen and rooney in particular our beanpole striker is going to have massive pressure on him to carry england through till rooney is fit, if he does play some part in the world cup. it looks like owen might be fit enough to partner crouch up front but if not Walcott and Crouch maybe the starting strike force.
I believe that whenever or whoever gets fit first that crouch will keep his place in the starting line up, i am sure the Crouch holding up style of play at the start of comp will sway sven to stick with the typical english way to play the game, and i think that is englands best chance to triumph in Germany

WORLD CUP FEVER IS UPON US

Every 4 years this blight affects us, if you follow a club with players in the world cup then you are probably intersted in how your players do in this comp but you also have to think about what it takes out of them.
The worst case of this overplaying sadly affects us, Gerrard has had a one week break in 2 seasons.
i know he is still playing great but every player has his burnout point and Gerrard above all players much be reaching it now. He may have a great world cup but will he be up to the job for us next season?...............its a worry

Liverpool intersested in striker Craig Bellamy

He looks set to start in Wales' friendly fixtures against Basque and Trinidad & Tobago, but could be a transfer target for admirers Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea on his return to England

I would be very disappointed if he was one of our targets for a striker for next season, he is good but not good enough. I am hoping rafa pulls another couple of unknowns into the team, we know what bellamy can do and it is simply not enough to turn our fortunes in front of goal, Dirk Kuyt is a name that comes up a lot he is more expensive but we either get an unknown or go for potential in the likes of Kuyt, but we do need 2 strikers because cisse and morientes have not got us the goals last season so they have to go.

MONEY TALKS....

We have the best manager in the league but even rafa is going to find it hard to unseat maureen chelski without the funds. Now i know moores cares more than anyone about this club and he only wants the best invester for us, but i wonder are we ever going to get an invester to meet his expectations.
I am getting a bit worried that we will be too far behind in money terms by the time he decides it the right invester for us, This is the riskiest decision in our history, this can make or break us,
but making no decision can do even more damage so either pick an invester or move aside

UNLUCKY ARSENAL

I felt sorry for arsenal last night, they were beaten by the best team in the world but they gave it a hell of a fight and done english football proud, and once again proved it is best league in the world, they were beaten by a barcelona team that is at the top of their game and when they went down to 10 men they really showed what a good team henry & co are.
but i know it sounds negative but i thought they should have done a liverpool in the second half and defended like fuck. I know Its not pretty but it works, too many times henry and lundberg were attacking too far up the pitch, dont get me wrong it was entertaining but carragher and co would have held the lead to the end.
but cannot complain they have done themselves proud and did not have much luck, but i think few neutral fans would disagree, THE BEST TEAM IN EUROPE WON.
thats what we have to aspire too, first the prem and then someday play the type of football barcelone play, that we were once famous for..............IN RAFA WE TRUST

BENAYOUN YES OR NO ?

YOSSI BENAYOUN is a summer transfer target of Rafa Benitez after the Israeli's outstanding FA Cup Final performance.

The Liverpool manager has long been an admirer of the attacking midfielder after his three years in Spain with Racing Santander. And Benitez has been impressed by his first season in the Premiership since his £2.5million transfer to West Ham in the summer.

Sources close to Benayoun say his camp were sounded out about a possible move to Anfield before the FA Cup final.

And Benayoun's fine Cardiff display, where he showed the guile lacking from the Liverpool side, has further convinced Benitez that he can help turn the Reds into Premiership challengers.

The Spaniard has £20m to spend - and will have to invest at least £6m to persuade West Ham to sell a player who will be central to their UEFA Cup bid next season.

The 25-year-old can play wide on both flanks and off a central striker, and has scored six times for West Ham this season.

Have been very impressed with him this season and if our budget does not allow us to buy the likes of Giuly or Joaquin then i think he will be able to improve us on the right wing, but it is so strange next season on our left wing we will be overloaded with 3 players trying for one spot Kewell Gonzalez and zendon, also riise may find his best chance of playing is in the same position if Fabio Aurelio plays up to his potential, it puts a lot of questions on Harry Kewells anfield future even though he really has been back to his best in the second half of the season.

How would a Liverpool team perform next year with Aurelio at left back Gonzalez left wing and Benayoun right wing.

Sounds good but dont like not having Riise and Kewell in team especially Riise. But sacrifices are going to be have to made to take the cup away from moany maureen

Silly season begins straight away with the rumours that every club is buying every player.
We seem to have secured the services of 3 new players for next season already
Brazilian left-back Fabio Aurelio has already committed to signing from Valencia, joining Argentine defender Gabriel Paletta and Chile international Mark Gonzalez
But Paletta must surly be the last centre back we need or can afford for next season, we bought agger in the close season and Hyypia seems to have another seson in him maybe only back up, but with carragher that makes 4 traore will probably leave in summer , so i was surprised to read this.................

Liverpool are reported to have rekindled their interest in giant Benfica defender Luisao.

The Reds have been monitoring the Brazilian international for some time and even submitted an offer for him - understood to have been around €10 million (£6 million) - last summer. Benitez is prepared to raise his already substantial offer for the player, but Benfica are understood to be very reticent to sell.

Maybe its just rumour but he is a very good player and the type that Rafa may go for but if we do buy thats a hell of a lot of central defenders

HOW GOOD IS GERRARD

Steven gerrard surly wakes up this morning as the best midfielder in the world.
he almost single handed dragged his teammates back into a game that they were outplayed in large portions of. His second goal which must be included as a contender for goal of the season summed up what he means for Liverpool fc, with the cup looking like it was heading to london and even though he seemed to be suffering from cramp or an injury he somehow and not for the first time scores a stunning goal to give his team a lifeline.

Andy Gray's FA Cup final

t's fair to say we're due an entertaining FA Cup final and we might just get it in Cardiff on Saturday afternoon.

The calibre of player Liverpool have in their ranks combined with the way Alan Pardew's team like to play football, we could get a really smashing game.

For me it depends on West Ham. If they are the same team that played the first-half of the semi-final against Boro at Villa Park, I don't think they have a chance.

They may have anywhere near as much pressure on them as they did at the Millennium Stadium last year but it is still a huge game for them and mentally they've got to be right.

You'd expect Liverpool to settle first, to get their passing game going and Steven Gerrard on the ball. If the Hammers lose a goal then it's a long way back.

Yet they have proved game opposition all year. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has enjoyed watching them and a 10th-placed finish on their return to the top flight is fantastic.

I also want to praise the manager for the job he has done. But it's not only what he’s done on the field, it's the way he goes about his business off it too.

Alan has invited me into his office on a couple of occasions when we've been at Upton Park and I've really enjoyed talking to him. Not everybody is that open and friendly.

Five days before West Ham were weaving a way out of the Championship last year, Liverpool were being crowned champions of Europe. It's another way of seeing how far West Ham have come.

Liverpool fc should have another cup in the cabinet tomorrow night but i hope over confidence is not gettin to us, we are the better team but a cup final is a cup final and tomorrow will be some of west hams players biggest day in there playing careers, but still cant see anything but a pool win.
